Two of them are nobles, one is an outlaw and one is a commoner. In this part of the town, you can find 4 NPCs to mug. There you will encounter your major stealing area: Keep in mind there's also a guard in the gate not too far away, he can't see you if you do anything to poor Ulvon, but you can try to pickpocket him if you feel like it.Īfter taking care of poor Ulvon, you can move towards the North - North East of the town. If he goes there, don't try anything on him since the merchants will see you and your bounty will rise. Be mindful that his path starts from a bench next to the waterfront (where nobody will see you stealing from him), he takes the small path outside the town and then he strolls around in the market. He's definitely an important target and it's worth coming back to the town's entrance to mug him again. While his pickpocket security is pretty high, don't be afraid to take the risk and pickpocket him twice since I have noticed he has the highest House Motif drop rate out of all the NPCs in Balmora. Here we will encounter our first Noble, Ulvon Hlaalu. As soon as you teleport, don't go through the gate but take the small path to the left instead: It's basically the path you will take as soon as you teleport to the Wayshrine in Balmora and it leads to the town's major stealing location. Let's call this our standard route (or red route). With these things in mind, let's start analyzing the routes you can take. You can either learn them to complete your collection, or you can sell them for a decent amount in the Guild Store. Our route however visits 3 houses (4 if you like to take risks) with plenty of containers like wardrobes, backpacks, baskets etc, that have a significantly better chance to drop said recipes. Last but not least, every NPC has a small chance to drop furnishing recipes. Other NPCs also drop very good loot, but the drop chance and quality vary. Besides nobles, you also have several Outlaws that you can pickpocket for the chance to get Gaming Dice, which you can sell for 700 gold each. When this guide was written, a House Motif price ranges from 5.000 gold to 15.000. Not only they have a better chance to drop purple or blue quality loot, they also have a better chance to drop House Motifs that are exclusive to Vvanderfell and their prices in the Guild Stores vary. While Suran is a legit choice, I consider it much more dangerous since it's easier to be caught, plus it doesn't offer as many stealing opportunities as Balmora does.įirst of all, Balmora has a good number of Noble NPCs. So, you may ask, why Balmora? You may have read from other guides or forums that when it comes to stealing in Vvanderfell, everyone loves Suran. That means you pickpocket an NPC twice, then murder him to get his final loot drop and make him respawn, since empty NPCs take an extremely long while to replenish their inventory and nobody likes encountering another player's leftovers. Also don't forget, to avoid the justified rage of other criminals in zone chat make sure to always use the "pick - pick - stab" routine. The higher levels you have in those, the better your chances of success. To maximize your criminal efficiency, you obviously need the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood DLCs for their skill lines, plus the Legerdemain skill line. I came up with the thieving paths a long while after I finished Vvanderfell's content, so I'm not 100% certain the circumstances in Balmora will be the same if you haven't done the quests there. First of all, you obviously need the Morrowind DLC to access Balmora.
